Piggly Wiggly Food for Less Expands with Six New Stores Across Alabama, Georgia, and Florida

Residents across the Southeast will soon enjoy a new way to shop for fresh produce, meats, seafood, deli favorites, prepared meals, and grocery essentials at unbeatable prices with the upcoming openings of six new Piggly Wiggly Food for Less locations.
The new stores, opening soon in Wetumpka, Alabama; Montgomery, Alabama; Sandersville, Georgia; Eastman, Georgia; and Havana, Florida, mark an exciting expansion for the Food for Less team. The stores are known for a strong community focus and a “cost-plus” savings model, where prices are displayed at the store’s wholesale cost and 10 percent is added at checkout.
Each location, formerly a Winn-Dixie store, will undergo renovations to reflect the signature Piggly Wiggly Food for Less look and shopping experience. The openings come as part of the company’s acquisition of select locations from Southeastern Grocers, following its recent announcement of a major transition into The Winn-Dixie Company.
“We’re thrilled to bring our customer-first approach and unbeatable value to these new communities,” said Cody McDaniel, co-owner and operator of Piggly Wiggly Food for Less. “Each store represents a new opportunity to serve families with quality, affordability, and the friendly neighborhood service people expect from Piggly Wiggly.”
The stores will collectively create more than 400 local jobs across the five communities, with positions ranging from cashiers and clerks to department managers, meat cutters, and deli staff. Renovation work is set to begin very soon.
Each new location will emphasize community involvement by supporting local farmers, food producers, and civic organizations through partnerships and outreach.
